With hundreds of thousands of stock items worth more than $40 million (US$) to manage across more than 100 nationwide locations, Fujitsu was previously relying on an average-based methodology spreadsheet system to monitor stock. Not only was this this a time consuming process, but it was one that required six full-time analysts to extract the data, consequently providing inaccurate figures that resulted in customer service repercussions and internal conflicts.
After the addition of Demand Solutions Forecast Management and Requirements Planning software, the company gained clear visibility into inventory that noticeably increased levels of forecast accuracy. As a result, customer complaints were drastically reduced, while internal solutions amongst the analytical team have been resolved.
At the time of implementation, Fujitsu was spending $9 million annually to rejuvenate its spare parts industry, which has now decreased by more than $5 million annually just two years after seeking a solution from DMS.
